Job Title: Freelance Hausa Voice Contributors Wanted – ($15/hr)
Job Type: Contractor
Location: Remote
Job Summary:
Join our network of remote language contributors as a Hausa Conversational Audio Partner. In this role, you will leverage your native language skills to capture authentic voice data by having natural, unscripted conversations in Hausa (Hausa / هَوُسَ) with a partner. Whether you are discussing daily life, work, hobbies, or personal opinions, your clear and spontaneous dialogue will help advance global voice technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in natural, unscripted conversations with a partner for durations ranging from 2 to 60 minutes per session.
- Record all sessions seamlessly using our proprietary in-app recording feature.
- Ensure pristine audio quality by wearing headphones and recording in a completely separate room from your conversation partner to prevent any audio echo.
- Maintain a genuine conversational flow, demonstrating natural turn-taking and back-and-forth dialogue.
- Deliver clean audio content completely free from scripted readings, dubbed media, or rehearsed material.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Native or highly fluent proficiency in Hausa (Hausawa). Submissions from non-native speakers will not be accepted.
- Ability to record in a strictly controlled, quiet environment with absolutely no background music, TV noise, or ambient interruptions.
- Consistent and clear speech from both you and your partner.
- Hardware capability that meets our minimum technical requirements: 48 kHz sample rate, 16-bit depth, and Mono or Stereo channels (formatting to WAV is handled automatically by our recorder).
- High attention to detail and the ability to strictly follow remote recording instructions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Speakers of authentic regional varieties, including Kananci (Kano standard), Sakkwatanci (Sokoto), Bausanci (Bauchi), and Niger Republic dialects.
- Individuals comfortable with natural, spontaneous code-switching (incorporating some English or French seamlessly), provided the vast majority of the conversation remains in Hausa.
